On a recent warm summer day, my friends and I decided to ride our bikes from Prince George out to Ness Lake (about 35 km northwest). We chose bikes so that we could take our time and enjoy the scenery along the way, but it also makes for a very nice drive.
One thing great about Prince George is you don’t have to go very far to be out of the city. After riding up a big hill, we were on our way to Ness Lake along a scenic country road. We passed by many lovely farms with big fields.
Along the way, we decided to stop at the Park Drive-In Theatre, Go-karts, and Mini-Golf. The Park Drive-in Theatre is one of the remaining few drive-in theatres left in the world (and one of three in British Columbia), which means people from near and come to watch movies there. While we couldn’t watch a movie, we did go ride the go-karts, and play some mini-golf. It was a lot of fun racing down the track in the Go-karts, and playing a round of mini-golf with my friends.
Afterwards, we continued on to Ness Lake Regional Park where we hung out at the beach for the day. The lake was nice after a long ride out! We enjoyed our lunches, then rode back to the city. It was definitely a very fun way to spend a day in the Prince George area, and if you were driving out, it would only take you about 45 minutes to reach it.
