Come explore BC’s eastern mountain ranges with our Instagrammer of the week, @schmuphotography! From Mount Niles in Yoho National Park to the Adamant Range of the Selkirk Mountains, see why BC’s Kootenay Rockies region is a mountain lover’s dream!
While doing a late approach into Assiniboine Provincial Park, my hiking partner and I found ourselves stuck in a blizzard and ended up set up camp in a random meadow. The next morning we woke up to a very chilly winter wonderland.
A major headwater for the Kootenay River, The Monarch sits right on the boarder of Assiniboine Provincial Park and Kootenay National Park. The approach in from Banff National Park gives you amazing meadows and stunning larch trees in the fall season.
Moving from Campbell River in 2005, I came out to Banff Alberta and immediately immersed myself in the mountain culture found here. Every chance I get I’m out exploring the Canadian Rockies throughout BC and Alberta, taking in all the amazing beauty and exploring the limitless valleys and mountain peaks found here. A person could spend a lifetime exploring this area, which I think makes this place very special.
