Say hello to our Instagrammer of the week, @bleesnaps! Born and raised in Vancouver, Brian has always had a fascination with Vancouver by night. His urban photography amazes us and will no doubt have you oohing and ahhing over this photogenic BC city!
I’ve always dreamed to think how a bird sees this city as night. I would imagine it to be pretty spectacular. This is the closest I could execute this shot as I wanted to see it. The view of Harbour Centre makes it unmistakably a Vancouver Icon.
Another iconic location is BC Place. I simply love how it has the ability to change colour, and that reminds me of a chameleon. The fact that it’s highly visible to much of the city, I always crave and search for different vantage points to see it. To me, it’s amazing how different it looks depending where you are. Stanley Park is simply a gorgeous place at nighttime. The colours of the city lights and the peaceful quiet make it simply an amazing place to be. I have a hard time deciding if it’s more beautiful in the daytime or night time. It’s one of the very best place to go and take pictures. Bring a friend, stay safe, and stay warm.
Gastown is simply amazing at nighttime. The people, the energy, the vibe. Full of history and brilliant icons like the Steam Clock and Gassy Jack, make it one of my favourite corners of the city to be in.
The unmistakable skyline of Vancouver is recognized world wide, along with it’s iconic convention centre. There’s something about the lights on water that simply make me melt when I see the skyline. This is Vancouver. No matter where I go in this world, this will ALWAYS feel like home.
The Aquabus Depot seen from Granville Island. Overlooking towards Yaletown is a surreal experience and wonderful place to go for a night walk.
The wonderful Telus World of Science as seen from Olympic Village. Highly visible from many parts of Vancouver, it really is one of the true icons that make Vancouver what it is. Many that grew up in Vancouver have fond memories going there for school field trips or just a weekend with the family.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Brian has always had a fascination with Vancouver by night. Although he travels on a regular basis to other places, Vancouver has always and will always be his home. “I don’t like to try to constrain myself to one style of photography or of one subject; I love going to new places and experiencing new things. However, at the end of the day, shooting urban photography of Vancouver at night remains one of my absolute favourite things to do. There’s nothing quite like it. It’s a heightened experience for me. Every time I bring my camera out, I seem to love this place a little bit more. While a few photos on Instagram can showcase Vancouver’s beauty, the truth is, she looks gorgeous from literally thousands of vantage points – I’m always on a mission to keep discovering new ones.”
