We’re excited to showcase the photography of our Instagrammer of the week, @mikaryan! From the glass skyscrapers of Vancouver to the wild shores of Tofino, Mika’s theme is one that rings true to us here in British Columbia: an urban life defined by nature. Enjoy!
Early morning is a wonderful time to explore Vancouver’s seawall: not only is the light beautiful, but it’s also one of the best times to view wildlife. Over the years I’ve seen racoons, otters, coyotes, skunks, seals, herons, eagles and once even had to stop traffic for a beaver who was crossing the street.
I once took a friend who was visiting from Brazil to the Capilano Suspension Bridge; she said it was the embodiment of everything she imagined Canada to be. It’s a wonderful place to get up close and personal with old-growth trees, not to mention that the views are hard to beat.
When I moved to British Columbia over 20 years ago, I finally felt like I was home. For me, Instagram is my gratitude journal; each day I post a photo that captures the beauty of my wonderful west coast life. All images are taken with my iPhone and my family likes to point out that I frequently break all of the “rules” of photography.
