Away from the crowds, into the wilderness. This is the theme of our Instagrammer of the week, @meandertheworld!
I took this shot on the way up to the Black Tusk, a long day or beautiful overnight hike just south of Whistler. The wind smelt like sweet wildflowers and the view was nothing short of my idea of paradise.
Welcome to the Curme Islands, a HUGE highlight within Desolation Sound Marine Park. This photo is taken just beside our campsite, which essentially was our own private island for a few days. Resident seals and starfish were our only neighbours, how awesome is that?
Between two of Whistler’s famous lakes is a meandering river called the ‘River of Golden Dreams’. Floating downstream, looking up at Whistler’s famous peaks, it’s one of the best ways to cool off in the summer heat.
Unwin Lake is in the middle of Desolation Sound Park and is only reached by boat via a small hike or a float plane. Is it just me, or is there something about diving into a freshwater lake that makes you feel like a kid again?
I grew up in Lake Country, a small community just outside of Kelowna. This hike, Spion Kopje, delivers the best view of the Okanagan. From the top there is nearly 360 degree views of the surrounding lakes and orchards that line the valley.
There is something magical about Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. On sunny days, the emerald green lake shines in front of a picture perfect backdrop of mountains and forests, but cloaked in mist, the stillness of this basin creates a perfect peaceful escape from the bustling park tourists of the Rockies.
Hello BC! I’m a travel writer/tour guide who has travelled the world extensively, but I still believe that BC is the best place on Earth. You’ll almost never find me in any particular location for long and I’m usually outside exploring, so my photos are a mash-up of a few of the beautiful places that I’ve encountered in BC’s great outdoors. Thanks!
