From March 26-31, Destination BC hosted Australia’s Sunrise TV morning show (7 Network) for a series of live broadcasts from several BC locations, including Emerald Lake Lodge, Vancouver, Victoria, and Whistler. Weatherman Sam McMillan took viewers along an epic Western Canadian journey through the Rockies, into Vancouver and Whistler, and ending in Victoria, showcasing quintessential BC experiences with businesses such as Mr. Bannock, Takaya Tours, Grouse Mountain, The Empress Hotel, Harbour Air, and more. Australia is a key international market for BC, and with pre-entry testing requirements to Canada just recently lifted, this broadcast was an exceptional opportunity to showcase BC’s tourism experiences and re-invigorate travel from that market, with an on-air value for the week in excess of $2 million. A huge thanks to Sam and the entire Sunrise team – BC looks forward to welcoming you back soon!
