PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Vice President, Destination Management, leads the development and implementation of the Corporation’s destination management and stewardship strategies, working with Indigenous, government, tourism association and private business partners across British Columbia, to inspire and enable a strong and sustainable visitor economy. Through collaboration with partners, the incumbent will support British Columbia’s transition to a thriving, regenerative, visitor economy that provides net economic, socio-cultural and environmental benefits and contributes to a high quality of life for all British Columbians.
Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Vice President, Destination Management leverages relationships with industry partners to provide a cohesive, strategic direction to align efforts across all aspects of Destination BC’s strategy to support and enhance British Columbia’s visitor economy. In addition to leading the Destination Management division, the incumbent works with the executive team to support corporate-wide projects, such as the Tourism Data Hub, Invest in Iconics, Destination Stewardship, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Employee Health and Wellness. The Vice President leads collaboration and partnership with Indigenous Tourism BC and interfaces with government Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and senior executives and managers on behalf of Destination BC. The position provides leadership to the Destination Management team in developing and implementing annual plans, programs and projects and has overall responsibility for all aspects of budget and human resources within the division.
