BC’s picture-perfect Pacific coastline and abundance of mountains and forests, featured prominently in Destination BC’s Call the Wild overseas marketing campaign, have earned it the top spot in Wanderlust Travel Awards‘ Most Desirable Region (long haul).

On Tuesday 2nd November, hundreds of the world’s foremost travel leaders, writers and celebrities headed to Kensington Palace for a magical evening at the 20th Wanderlust Travel Awards, accompanied by Master of Ceremonies, the BAFTA award-winning travel legend, Steve Backshall. This year, Wanderlust presented a mixture of reader, guide and industry awards at this special London venue, putting a spotlight on the industry’s stars who have kept shining during this turbulent time for travel.

As the UK’s longest-running travel magazine, Wanderlust has been at the forefront of sustainable travel for the past 28 years. Today, its values remain more important than ever. Wanderlust exists to inform and inspire travellers globally to take the road less travelled, by sharing authentic travel writing, stunning photography and expert advice, in print and online.

This year’s reader awards reflect the strange year the travel industry has passed through. So, rather than ask about where they’ve travelled, Wanderlust asked readers – the most informed and knowledgeable tastemakers in the industry – where they most want to go once restrictions are lifted. Voting took place during September and October 2021.
