Every fall, Destination BC organizes a series of media events in partnership with BC ski partners. Through these events, we help foster collaboration across the sector and create opportunities for partners to network with key media, pitch ski stories and generate earned coverage for the season ahead. The events take place in Denver, Boulder, Seattle and Toronto—key geographic markets, and hubs for premium outlets and freelance writers interested in ski and outdoor adventure.

The BC ski roadshow kicked off in Colorado where seven ski partners from across the province joined Team BC and, over the course of three days, connected with over 60 media at reception-style events and deskside meetings. Key outlets in attendance included SKI Magazine, Freeskier, The Denver Post, Outside, Men’s Journal, Backpacker, and National Geographic.

In Seattle, Team BC along with seven ski partners hosted 48 media—in Toronto eleven ski partners helped host 37 media—to an annual in-market media dinner. Outlets included The Seattle Times, The Seattle Met, POWDER, Forbes, USA Today, Travel + Leisure, The Globe & Mail, The Toronto Sun, Canadian Geographic, WestJet Magazine, and Mountain Life Magazine.

Feedback was extremely positive, with media commenting that they look forward to these events every year, and appreciate the opportunity to connect with so many BC partners in one place.

Here are some examples of recent coverage earned as a result of the team’s ongoing efforts to ensure BC is seen as a must-visit-now travel destination:
