go2HR, BC’s tourism and hospitality human resource association, is pleased to announce Cindy Conti as the new Regional HR Consultant. The newly created position is a partnership between go2HR and the Vancouver, Coast & Mountains Tourism Region (VCM), focused on supporting strong and strategic HR practices for tourism and hospitality businesses within the area. Cindy will be based in the go2HR office in Vancouver on a two-year contract.

The regional HR Consultant position was identified as a key output of the VCM Tourism Labour Market Action Plan, which the VCM team, managed by Destination BC, commissioned go2HR to develop, to address immediate and short-term needs of tourism and hospitality businesses. The position will provide HR leadership and support for industry employers while spearheading a series of other actions identified in the Tourism Labour Market  Action Plan as they are rolled out throughout communities in the region. Another initial output is the VCM Tourism HR Resources for Employers page on the go2HR website.

“The VCM region is critically important to the overall health of the tourism and hospitality industry in that it represents more than 65% of BC’s tourism workforce and has clearly been the hardest hit region within the province’” says Krista Bax, CEO of go2HR. “We are excited to be able to directly support businesses across the regions to realize strong workforces and safe workplaces as they recover in the years ahead.”

“Today marks an exciting next step in VCM’s Labour Market Action Plan and our longstanding partnership with go2HR,” says Peter Harrison, Director of Industry Partnerships and Visitor Services at Destination BC. “As the dedicated Regional HR Consultant, Cindy will provide immediate, on-the-ground support to tourism employers to help with recruitment strategies, develop HR standards and practices, and provide expert advice during this time of staff shortages in the region as businesses prepare for winter and 2022 operations.”
